How Does Selling A Boat Equal Nurturing Long Time Clients?

We have decided to sell our boat.

It has given us years of fun and enjoyment, but it is time for the family to look for new adventures.

I had to clean it up today before advertising it for sale and I could not believe how dirty and run down I had let it get.

Don't get me wrong, the motor and interior are in wonderful condition, but the boat as a whole looked rather "tired" because it had not been cleaned for several months.

This got me thinking about a situation I had heard about earlier this year, where a client of mine had complained that they had lost a long time customer and could not understand why.

They were confident that their level of service had not dropped, so were at a loss to understand why this client had "moved on".

I happened to bump into their client a month or so after my customer had told me what had happened.

During our chat I made mention that my client had said that they had "moved on" and their response was most enlightening.

Apparently, when this client first started using my customer's services, every year they would receive a Christmas card thanking them for their business, but for the past couple of years, these cards had stopped being received.

This client openly admitted to "feeling like they were being taken for granted" by my customer and this is why they had left their services.

Just as my boat looked "tired" because it had not been cleaned, this client had got "tired" of my customer, because they felt that they were taken for granted.

When was the last time you did something "nice" or "out of the ordinary" that pleasantly surprised your long time clients?

It may take little more than a Christmas card from you for them to remain loyal clients who rave about your products and/or services to everyone they meet.

If nothing else, just call them and say "Hi" if you don't see them often - not only will this surprise them, but they will also appreciate you caring enough to take some time out of your busy day to give them a call.

Oh, and while I think of it, if you are looking for a boat that will give you and your family hours of fun and enjoyment, check mine out here - doesn't it look nice and clean?!!!!!!!
