Do You Really Know Who Your Friends Are?

To say that the past fortnight has been chaotic is an understatement!!!

It has, however, been a stark reminder that without the help of true friends there are times when living a "normal" life can be next to impossible.

Let me give you an example of what I mean - if your partner was suddenly admitted to hospital for an urgent operation at the same time that your child had been accepted to represent his school in a week long tennis tournament and also at the same time as your best mate's father passed away and you were trying to help your mate in any way possible, could you also find the time to keep running your business, or would running your business simply have to "stop" while you -

1. Went to hospital and medical appointments with your partner,

2. Drove your child to the tennis tournament because your partner was in hospital and

3. Stayed in contact with your best mate to help him in any way possible while he arranged his father's funeral?

Well, welcome to my world for the past fortnight!!!!

There is an old saying - "The Cream Rises To The Top When The Chips Are Down" - and the past two weeks have proven just how true this saying is.

While all this has been going on, I have also been able to continue running my business (the bills still need to be paid!!) and it would have been impossible to do so without the help of good friends who immediately "stepped up to the plate" to help.

What I have found most fascinating is that many of those who have helped are people that I did not expect would be there to assist - it just goes to show that you never know who is going to be there for you until you really need them.

For those of you who have helped over the past weeks (you know who you are), thank you for finding the time to help me and my family so that I could continue running my business.

To my best mate (you also know who you are) who has been on the phone to me every day while dealing with his own grief, thank you - you know that if you need any help with anything I am only a phone call away.

To my business partner (you also know who you are), thank you for finding time in your own chaotic schedule to call and make sure that I was ok - even if you had done nothing else, the fact that you rescheduled your calendar to ensure that we could catch up and finish our podcast went a long way to helping (because I was beginning to think that our podcast would never happen!!!!! LOL).

It is only through true friends that life can been as close as possible to "normal" when these little "surprises" come your way - do you really know who your true friends are?
