Time To Get "On Your Bike"!!

Sorry I have been "away" for a couple of weeks, but things have really "ramped up" over recent times and my focus has been on business projects that I am currently working on.

Saying that, we had a "family milestone" this week that I would like to share with you because it very much represents what has been happening in my business life as well.

This week marks the first week that my son road his bike to school all by himself!!!

My wife and I have been mulling over letting him do so for some time now and decided that the time is finally right.

Keep in mind that the ride is a good 3 kilometers one way over quite a hilly terrain and - like all doting parents - things like "What if it is too far?", "What if he is approached by someone?" and every other concern known to mankind goes through your mind.

With that in mind, we are also conscious that the only way kids "grow up" is by being allowed to do so, so after my wife went for a ride with him last weekend to make sure he knew which way to go, I waved him on his way earlier this week.

He came home later that day all "chuffed" because he really enjoyed the ride and loved "showing off" his bike to his mates!!

Needless to say, this was the start of things to come and two days later we get the "It's nice outside - can I ride to school today?" and off he goes again!!!

Reflecting back on last week, it very much represents what has been happening in my business life as well.

You have all heard me talk about the BookPals project that I have been working on for several years now and its launch is getting nearer and nearer by the day.

Only yesterday my business partner and I finished the rough draft of the system after many iterations of what we thought was "the perfect solution" - no matter how much you think about what you want to do, it is not until you actually "get on your bike" and start outlining and documenting what you are trying to achieve that you actually come to those "intersections" where you need to decide "which direction" you have to head off in.

One real positive about our son now riding to school is that it frees up more time for me to work on the BookPals project and this means the launch gets closer, quicker!!!!!
