Do We Ever Stop Selling?

I had a really interesting conversation the other day that I want to share with you.

I was having coffee with a guy who has recently started his own business and we were talking about ways in which to promote his services to source more potential leads.

We spoke about the usual things like online marketing, SEO and the like and then the discussion moved to things like speaking to business groups and and even promoting his services in places like the BookPals Business Sanity podcast.

He then made an interesting comment -

"I don't like standing in front of people promoting what I sell!!!"

Needless to say, the conversation very quickly focussed on why this was so and I asked him the following questions -

How many times have you had to convince your kids to do something that they didn't want to do?

How many times have you tried to convince your spouse to buy something that they didn't want to buy?

How many times have you tried to convince your mates to agree with you on something that they don't agree with?

We sell all day - every day - and for some reason there is this stigma that when we try and sell our products or services there is something wrong with this - WHY?
